Q Assessment Purpose: This essay should reflect how well you are able to recognize and critique elements of argument in multimodal argument. Your professor will assess your ability to use key terms from the rhetorical models we have studied in class. In other words, you need to show your professor the following: ? Your ability to recognize and choose multimodal arguments which make a strong claim. ? Your ability to introduce your multimodal argument by discussing the cultural context of your chosen argument by using Bitzer’s rhetorical situation. There are five key terms you are expected to use within the essay. (See below and refer to Chapter Two of Patterns of Argument.) ? Your ability to analyze your chosen multimodal argument using the Toulmin model of logic. There are three key terms required for Toulmin analysis. However, many of you will need to use the three optional terms as well for a full analysis. You will be graded on how well you appropriately use the three to six terms as needed for your argument. (See below and review Chapter Four of Patterns of Argument.) ? Your ability to recognize and discuss the types of claims, proofs and fallacies you may find in the multimodal argument.
